December 5th Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is hard to believe that the winter holiday season is almost here.  The purpose of this letter is to give you some information and reminders.

1. Do you want to help the school?  Don’t forget to save your “BOX TOPS.”  Box tops can be found on hundreds of items in grocery stores. Please save your Box Tops!

2. For safety reasons, student check-outs after 1:30 p.m. are not permitted.  To check out a student, the person must report to the office, have ID, and be listed on the child’s information card as having permission to check out the child.

3. The following are some dates to add to your calendar.

Dec. 20 Pre-K and K students Holiday Program 6:30 p.m. at VMMS
Dec. 21 Early Release day and Last day for students
Dec. 24-Jan. 7 Winter Break for Students
Jan. 8 Students Report to school
Jan. 9 School Council 7:30 a.m.
Jan. 10 Report cards issued to students

Feb. 14-19 Mid-Winter Break – schools closed (Break days will be used for bad weather make-up if needed)

4. If you need to change the way your child goes home, please send a signed and dated note with a phone number for verification.  Transportation changes can be emailed to before 1:00 in the afternoon.  Transportation changes emailed to teachers or other staff members will not be accepted.  We are unable to make transportation changes over the phone.

5. Has your phone number changed?  Please contact the office and your child’s teacher to let the school know your new phone number.

6. We are now in the season for severe weather.  School closing announcements would be posted on the NCSS website, the district’s Facebook, NCSS Twitter and on metro-Atlanta television stations.  In addition, a School Messenger call would go out to NCSS families and staff.  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT PARENTS KEEP PHONE INFORMATION UP-TO-DATE.   For more information, please see your child’s agenda, in the System Elementary Handbook on pages 15. And 16.

If I can assist you in any way, please contact me.  On behalf of the faculty and staff of Oak Hill Elementary School, thank you for the opportunity to educate your child.
